The Trump administration has carried out more than 100,000 deportations since Jan. 20, The New York Post first reported. In fulfillment of President Donald Trump’s pledge to arrest and remove illegal aliens, Immigration and Customs Enforcement has also made 113,000 arrests.
“He’s doing what he was voted in to do. Point blank!” an ICE source told the Post.
The latest numbers show a significant increase in recent arrests. In the first 50 days of the Trump administration, ICE made 32,809 enforcement arrests, 14,111 of whom were convicted criminals and 9,980 have pending criminal charges, according to the Department of Homeland Security.
With arrests and deportations rising, Trump administrations officials say some illegal aliens are choosing to self-deport.
“We’re seeing sky high levels of reverse migration, people turning around at our southern border,” Tricia McLaughlin, DHS assistant secretary for public affairs, said during a Fox News interview Monday.
Illegal aliens are also making use of the CBP Home mobile application, McLaughlin said. The Trump administration announced the launch of the CBP Home app in March as a tool to provide illegal immigrants with a way to report their planned self-deportation to DHS.
“The CBP Home app gives aliens the option to leave now and self-deport, so they may still have the opportunity to return legally in the future and live the American dream,” DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said.
The promotion of arrest and deportations numbers and the launch of the CBP Home app all undergird a clear message from the Trump administration: don’t illegally cross into the U.S. or there will be consequences.
During a visit to El Salvador’s Terrorism Confinement Center last week, Noem warned current or prospective illegal aliens, “do not come to our country illegally. You will be removed and you will be prosecuted.”
Encounters of illegal aliens at the southern border have also declined sharply in recent months. In March, Border Patrol encountered about 7,000 illegal aliens between ports of entry, compared with 137,000 in March 2024, according to post Trump shared on his Truth Social account on Tuesday.

Illegal alien encounters at the southern border have been trending downward since the end of 2024, falling from 96,036 in December to 61,447 in January, and down to 11,709 by February, according to Customs and Border Protection.
