U.S. Rep. Dan Newhouse (D-Wash.), who represents Washington state’s Fourth District in the House of Representatives, will not seek reelection to the body in 2026, he announced on Dec. 17.
Newhouse entered Congress in 2015 after a career in state politics and, since then, has been a visibly moderate member of the House Republican Conference.
He was one of the Republican members of Congress to vote to impeach President Donald Trump after the events on Jan. 6, 2021, and is the last such member to still serve in the House, despite having been opposed by Trump in successive primary contests.
“I am announcing today that I will not seek reelection to the U.S. House of Representatives,” wrote Newhouse in a press release on his official website that was also published on social media....
