Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem warned that illegal immigrants who do not self-deport from the United States could end up at a new Florida detention facility surrounded by alligators that has been dubbed “Alligator Alcatraz.”
On July 1, President Donald Trump, Noem, and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis presided over the opening of the detention center, which has faced pushback from Democrats and activist groups on humanitarian and environmental grounds.
