Trump Admin Asks Supreme Court to Quickly Hear Tariff Appeal, Reverse Ruling

The Trump administration on Wednesday night asked the Supreme Court to review a lower court order that struck down most of President Donald Trump’s global tariffs. A divided federal appeals court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, ruled 7-4 on Aug. 29 in V.O.S. Selections Inc. v. United States and Oregon v. Trump that the president had overstepped his authority when he imposed reciprocal tariffs on imports from U.S. trade partners in April using the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA). On Wednesday evening, the Trump administration filed a petition for certiorari at the Supreme Court to challenge this ruling, asking the court to review what the president described on Wednesday as “one of the most important” cases to go before the tribunal....
