Trump to Pay for Pair of 100-Foot Flagpoles for White House Lawn

4 hours ago 1

President Donald Trump is continuing his White House makeover, announcing Wednesday that he would be putting up an “almost 100-foot-tall” American flagpole on each side of the presidential mansion.

“We’re putting up a beautiful, almost 100-foot-tall American flag on this side, and another one on the other side,” Trump told the press shortly after being spotted surveying the lawn.

“Two flags, top of the line. And they’ve needed flagpoles for 200 years. It was something I’ve often said. You know, they don’t have a flagpole, they say. So, we’re putting one right where you saw us, and we’re putting another one on the other side on top of the mounds. It’s going to be two beautiful poles.”

He then added with a smirk, “Paid for by Trump.”

Asked when it would happen, he said, “They arrive in about a week or so.”

Trump has already been making major decorative changes to the White House, such as decorating the Oval Office walls with dozens of framed pieces, including a front-page cover of The New York Post that includes his police mug shot.

Trump has also made ample use of gold in his redecorating, such as the golden inlays over the Oval Office fireplace.

More recently, he installed a painting inspired by his iconic raised fist gesture after an attempted assassination in Butler, Pennsylvania, in July 2024.
