Mexico City .- In a morning press conference on September 3 , it was announced that by decree of Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, president of Mexico , the importation, production, commercialization and use of 35 highly dangerous pesticide molecules is prohibited .
The Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development ( Sader ), Julio Berdegué , highlighted that this decision by the Mexican government is a coordinated effort by four Secretariats :
- Ministry of Health, through Cofepris
- Ministry of Economy
- Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources
- Ministry of Agriculture
“This is a project initiated by the president at the beginning of her administration and is part of a larger strategy to achieve a much cleaner, more sustainable, and safer agriculture for producers, day laborers, and the country’s consumers,” he stated.
