Judge approves special counsel's request to dismiss Trump's Jan. 6 charges

A judge is signing off on special counsel Jack Smith's request to dismiss his federal investigation into President-elect Donald Trump. The cases concerned Trump's mishandling of classified documents and his effort to overturn the 2020 presidential election in the lead-up to the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S Capitol.
