“Milk” From GMO Microbes? Tell Trump’s New FDA To Get It off the Market!
Tell Trump’s new FDA (in the Department of Health & Human Services) to re-review genetically engineered synthetic Frankenfoods, including Perfect Day’s synthetic whey protein, made from a genetically engineered fungal microbe. It’s the main ingredient in Bored Cow’s synthetic “milk.”
This GMO fungal microbe “milk” got Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) status in 2020 even though the synthetic whey protein was contaminated with heavy metals and genetically engineered fungal proteins that are similar to known allergens. This was in the first administration of President Donald Trump. His FDA Commissioner at the time was Dr. Stephen Hahn, who went from that role through the proverbial revolving door to a job as the chief medical officer of Flagship Pioneering, the venture capital firm behind the synthetic biology companies Moderna and Editas.
According to the information submitted by Perfect Day to the FDA, the level of T. reesei (the genetically engineered fungal microbe that produces the synthetic protein) in the product is up to 6.7 percent.
That’s bad enough! But, independent testing conducted by scientist John Fagan of the Health Research Institute (HRI) found that there is very little bio-identical whey protein in Bored Cow’s “milk.” In fact, it’s mostly genetically engineered fungal proteins. These proteins have never been part of the human diet before, and some (at least 92) are unidentifiable, being unknown to science.
These recent scientific discoveries warrant a new review.

NEW STUDY
Plant-Based Beverages Are Less Nutritious Than Cow’s Milk
By University of Copenhagen – Faculty of Science, SciTechDaily:
“While milk is essentially a finished product when it comes out of a cow, oats, rice, and almonds require extensive processing during their conversion to a drinkable beverage. Moreover, each of the plant-based drinks tested underwent Ultra High Temperature (UHT) treatment, a process that is widely used for long-life milks around the world. In Denmark, milk is typically found only in the refrigerated sections of supermarkets and is low-pasteurized, meaning that it receives a much gentler heat treatment.
‘Despite increased plant-based drink sales, cow milk sales remain higher. Consequently, plant-based drinks undergo more intense heat treatments than the milk typically sold in Denmark, in order to extend their shelf life. But such treatment comes at a cost,’ says Marianne Nissen Lund.
Heat treatment may produce carcinogens: besides reducing nutritional value, heat treatment also generates new compounds in plant-based drinks. One such compound measured by the researchers in four of the plant-based drinks made from almonds and oats is acrylamide, a carcinogen that is also found in bread, cookies, coffee beans, and fried potatoes, including French fries.”

BILLION AGAVE PROJECT
Agaves: The Fire-Resistant Guardians of the Landscape
Regeneration International:
As wildfires continue to ravage communities and ecosystems worldwide, it’s time to explore innovative solutions for protecting our landscapes.
One promising approach is the Billion Agave Project, which leverages the fire-resistant nature of agaves to create more resilient ecosystems.
Why Agaves?
Agaves, a type of succulent, have evolved to thrive in fire-prone environments. Their unique characteristics make them an ideal choice for fire protection:
* Thick, waxy skin: Agaves’ skin is incredibly resistant to heat, preventing them from igniting easily.
* High water content: Agaves store water in their leaves, making them less likely to catch fire and providing a natural firebreak.
* Deep roots: Agaves’ extensive root systems allow them to survive fires that might destroy other vegetation.
The Billion Agave Project
The Billion Agave Project aims to plant one billion agaves worldwide, creating a network of fire-resistant ecosystems. This initiative has numerous benefits:
* Fire protection: Agaves’ natural fire resistance can help contain wildfires, protecting surrounding landscapes and communities.
* Ecosystem restoration: Agaves provide habitat and food for various wildlife, supporting biodiversity and ecosystem health.
* Climate change mitigation: Agaves absorb carbon dioxide and produce oxygen, contributing to climate change mitigation efforts.
* Sustainable land management: Agaves require minimal maintenance and can thrive in challenging environments, making them an ideal choice for sustainable land management.
Join the movement and help plant one billion agaves to safeguard our planet’s precious landscapes
APPETITE FOR A CHANGE
Titanium Dioxide, Banned in Europe, Is One of the Most Common Food Additives in the U.S.
“Titanium dioxide is the most widely used whitening pigment in the world and has been linked to adverse health effects, particularly genotoxicity and intestinal inflammation. It is applied as food coloring and a whitening agent to a wide variety of foods, including chewing gum, cakes, candies, breads and ice cream.
Because of health risks, France banned titanium dioxide as a food additive in 2020. Two years later the European Union also banned titanium dioxide as a food additive.
But in the U.S., titanium dioxide is found all over the grocery shelves. Candy like Skittles, Starbursts, and Jell-O, gum like Trident White peppermint gum and Mentos Freshmint Gum, cake products like Duncan Hines Creamy Vanilla Frosting, and Nabisco Chips Ahoy! cookies are just a few of the myriad food items that contain the additive.”

HEALTH
Links Between Gut Health, Immunity and Wellness
Analysis by Dr. Joseph Mercola:
“STORY-AT-A-GLANCE
* Your microbiome plays an important role in training your immune system, with gut dysfunction and increased permeability often leading to autoimmune diseases and inflammation
* A healthy colon requires an oxygen-free environment for beneficial bacteria, but environmental toxins and compromised mitochondrial function disrupt this delicate balance
* Modern environmental toxins, including microplastics and EMFs, act as mitochondrial poisons, increasing oxygen in the colon and promoting growth of harmful bacteria
* Health coaching is a key component of sustainable wellness, providing necessary support and accountability while helping patients implement lasting lifestyle changes
* The collaboration between medical professionals, researchers and health coaches will be key in fostering a health care system that prioritizes holistic, patient-centered care”

ENVIRONMENT & CLIMATE
Behemoth BlackRock Walks Away From Climate Change
By Douglas McIntyre, Climate Crisis 247:
“A number of large American companies have pulled back on what is known as ESG (environmental, social, and governance). Some of this movement is because shareholders do not want to pay for these programs out of corporate funds. The latest company to pull back is probably America’s premier financial firm. This is BlackRock, which is run by finance legend Larry Fink. Where Fink goes, much of the country’s financial firms follow.
BlackRock is among a growing number of large companies that have walked away from the environmental part of ESG. Some observers believe this is because of expected resistance to these new programs by the Trump Administration.
No matter what the reason, this move is part of a much larger trend that has not only cut corporate support to protect the environment. It has also led to drop broad restrictions which affect fossil fuel companies. Oil drilling will increase, widening America’s footprint as the largest producer of crude. Government support for wind, solar, and EV institutions will drop.”
U.S. SURGEON GENERAL’S ADVISORY
Our Epidemic of Loneliness and Isolation
U.S. Surgeon General’s Advisory:
“We are called to build a movement to mend the social fabric of our nation. It will take all of us—individuals and families, schools and workplaces, health care and public health systems, technology companies, governments, faith organizations, and communities—working together to destigmatize loneliness and change our cultural and policy response to it.
It will require reimagining the structures, policies, and programs that shape a community to best support the development of healthy relationships. Each of us can start now, in our own lives, by strengthening our connections and relationships. Our individual relationships are an untapped resource—a source of healing hiding in plain sight. They can help us live healthier, more productive, and more fulfilled lives.
Answer that phone call from a friend. Make time to share a meal. Listen without the distraction of your phone. Perform an act of service. Express yourself authentically. The keys to human connection are simple, but extraordinarily powerful. Loneliness and isolation represent profound threats to our health and well-being. But we have the power to respond. By taking small steps every day to strengthen our relationships, and by supporting community efforts to rebuild social connection, we can rise to meet this moment together.
We can build lives and communities that are healthier and happier. And we can ensure our country and the world are better poised than ever to take on the challenges that lay ahead.”
—Dr. Vivek H. Murthy, 19th and 21st Surgeon General
FOOD ACCESSIBILITY
Dramatic Differences in Top Grocery Chains on Processed Food Options
The Science Blog, Massachusetts General Hospital:
“An analysis of over 50,000 food products has revealed dramatic differences in the availability of minimally processed foods across America’s major grocery chains, with some stores offering few alternatives to ultra-processed options in popular food categories.
The research, published January 13 in Nature Food, provides unprecedented insight into the processed food landscape across Walmart, Target, and Whole Foods, using advanced machine learning to score products based on their degree of processing.
“There are a lot of mixed messages about what a person should eat. Our work aims to create a sort of translator to help people look at food information in a more digestible way,” said Giulia Menichetti, PhD, lead researcher at Brigham and Women’s Hospital’s Channing Division of Network Medicine.
The analysis revealed that while Whole Foods typically offers a wider range of minimally processed options, Walmart and Target’s selections in many categories are predominantly ultra-processed. For example, in the cereal aisle, Whole Foods customers can choose from products across the processing spectrum, while Walmart’s options are largely limited to highly processed varieties.”

AN OFF GRID LIFE
How To Use a Fermenting Crock
Blake Culver writes for An Off Grid Life:
“Fermenting crocks have been around for centuries, used by our ancestors to ferment produce in a controlled environment. They come in a few different shapes and sizes, but they all have the same purpose.
Although there are specially designed mason jars for fermentation nowadays, a classic fermenting crock can ferment a larger batch. They also last forever and look great on your kitchen counter.
Learning how to use a fermenting crock is easy, and doesn’t take much to get started. Here’s everything you need to know to start experimenting with your own fermenting crock today.
The most common fermented food made in the crocks is sauerkraut. In many countries today, people still make sauerkraut in a traditional fermenting crock.
The crocks’ popularity continues today because they’re easy to use, don’t have any fancy parts, and don’t need electricity. Plus, the beautiful stoneware looks like part of your kitchen decor.”
MILLIONS AGAINST MONSANTO
February 7: Get the Military-Pharmaceutical-Industrial Complex Out of Food & Farming
The same companies that make toxic pesticides and genetically-engineered Frankenfoods make chemical and biological weapons–and have colonial interests that involve them in U.S. war-making. These are also the companies peddling the pharmaceuticals that, by some estimates, are the leading cause of death in the U.S.
The secret military history of Bayer and Monsanto goes back to World War I when an invention that would win the Nobel Prize for its use in agriculture was tested on the battlefield, killing thousands with poison gas. During the Holocaust, Bayer ran medical research laboratories and massive factories out of the concentration camps where its Zyklon B was used in the gas chambers. Monsanto was instrumental in developing the bombs that needlessly murdered hundreds of thousands of people in Japan and remained a nuclear weapons contractor until its plants became superfund sites in the 1990s. Today, Bayer and Monsanto, which merged in 2018, are the monopoly Pentagon supplier of the white phosphorus weapons Israel is using in Gaza and Lebanon.
Alexis Baden-Mayer, political director of Organic Consumers Association, is giving a talk on this subject at the Dorothy Day Catholic Worker House in Washington, DC, on Friday, February 7 at 7:30 pm. You’re welcome to join in person if you’re in town. Otherwise, please watch online.
