Dear Friends of the OCA,
We know you understand the urgent need to transform our degenerative, agrochemical food system, which dominates our landscapes. We’re grateful for your support in whatever form it takes: donating, taking action, reading our newsletter, or sharing the truth about the dangers of pesticides and industrial agriculture.
OCA activists and our allies worldwide are dedicated to addressing critical issues of climate change, soil health, biodiversity, water pollution and scarcity, nutrition, environmental contamination, deteriorating public health, forced migration, economic justice, and rural economic development.
In these tumultuous times, our commitment to our work remains steadfast. Your support can make a real difference in creating a safer, healthier world for all.
Big Food, Big Data, and Big Pharma want us to forget that food is the best medicine. They want to convince us that we can thrive on GMOs and lab food and dispense with the world’s 500 million small farms, 70 billion farm animals, and three billion rural villagers/residents.
They want us, especially the exploited and psychologically under-siege majorities of Russia, China, and the West, to continue to fight among ourselves, rather than join together and overthrow the tyrants who threaten our freedom and our survival.
Our three sister organizations, Organic Consumers Association, Regeneration International and Vía Orgánica are working to drive change by joining forces with our allies and our network by promoting regenerative agriculture practices worldwide, while also empowering citizens with opportunities to contact government officials, sign petitions, and take action on critical policies affecting our food system.
Here are just a few ways we are working to make this goal a practical reality:
Helping Lead the Fight Against GMOs
We’ve been at the forefront of the anti-GMO movement, collaborating with renowned activists to shape public opinion and policy on GMO labeling and usage. We believe that everyone deserves to know what’s in their food and to have the right to choose organic, non-GMO healthy options.
Transforming Agriculture
We’re campaigning to reform government policies that perpetuate industrial agriculture practices, working instead for organic, regenerative, decentralized, local food systems that benefit communities and the environment. Advocating for the importance of agroecology, small-scale farmers, and advocating for policies that prioritize soil health, biodiversity, and ecosystem services.
Empowering Farmers and Communities
Our Vía Orgánica Farm School and Research Center provides university-level training in regenerative agriculture, empowering individuals to adopt organic regenerative farming practices in their own communities. We’re committed to supporting the next generation of farmers and leaders in the regenerative agriculture movement. We have created an extensive Regenerative Farm Map as a tool for people to connect directly with their local farmers. Our AgroEcology Center in Finland, Minnesota is a cold climate permaculture research project with a deep winter greenhouse providing food for the community and research and education for how to grow your own food in the northern climates.
Research and Innovation
Developing innovative solutions: Two of our major initiatives are the Billion Agave Project and the People’s Food Summit
With the Billion Agave Project we have developed an innovative solution to environmental restoration and sustainable livelihoods through the large-scale planting of agave plants interplanted with other native plants, this agroforestry system sequesters carbon, creates biodiversity, and can provide a sustainable income opportunities for rural communities.
We host the People’s Food Summit, an annual 24-hour symposium in celebration of World Food Day, October 16th, featuring organic regenerative speakers from every region of our planet, sharing wisdom and best practices to get the word out about innovative ways of creating agroforestry projects, often drawing from indigenous wisdom and practices.
We inspire and empower hundreds of thousands of people every year by sharing critical information about agroecology projects, uplifting stories of success, and highlighting the impact of individual actions, sparking a ripple effect of positive change in communities worldwide.
Holding Companies Accountable
We are successfully using litigation to take on major brands like General Mills, Eggland’s Best, Smithfield and Del Monte for deceptive labeling practices, fighting for transparency and honesty in the food industry. We believe that consumers have the right to know what’s in their food, have toxin free ingredients and to make informed choices about the products they buy.
Together, we’re driving meaningful change across the food system. From the fight against GMOs and transforming agriculture, to empowering farmers and communities, advancing research and innovation, holding companies accountable, and educating the public about toxins in food and medicine, we’re working tirelessly to create a healthier, more organic, and regenerative future for all. Your support is crucial to our continued success – thank you for joining us in this critical mission!
Please consider making a donation now and together we can be part of the movement for an organic, regenerative, healthy world that fosters good stewardship of the land, water and sky, for future generations to come.
