Today the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, led by Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., alongside the FDA, launched the Chemical Contaminants Transparency (CCT) Tool. This innovative online database consolidates information on contaminant levels in foods, aiding in the evaluation of potential health risks. The tool lists tolerances, action levels, and guidance levels used by the FDA to assess food safety, ultimately aiming to minimize chemical hazards. Acting FDA Commissioner Sara Brenner emphasizes the importance of a varied diet to mitigate exposure risks. The CCT Tool is part of the FDA’s broader initiative to modernize food chemical safety and promote radical transparency, ensuring consumers are informed about the contents of their food to support public health.
