Kari Lake Withdraws Termination of Radio Free Europe’s Grant, Ending Legal Dispute for Now

The Trump administration has rescinded its termination of a U.S. government grant to Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, pausing a legal battle over the funding of the nonprofit broadcaster. In a letter dated March 26, Kari Lake, senior adviser to the acting CEO of the U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM), informed Radio Free Europe (RFE) that its grant had been reinstated. USAGM oversees RFE, which describes itself as a “private, independent international news organization whose programs—radio, Internet, television, and mobile—reach a weekly audience of nearly 50 million people in 23 countries, including Russia, Ukraine, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, the republics of Central Asia and the Caucasus.”...
